Installation & Testing
How To Test
Testing Should be completed with direct sunlight available to the panel throughout test.
The Best time to Test is between 11.00am and 2.00pm when sunlight is at its peak. Ensure there is no interference from cloud cover.
Step 1 Closed Readings
Take Readings in the closed position to retrieve the amount of debris and dirt that has accumulated.
Take care not to block solar cell to sunlight as this will invalidate the reading.
Write Down the V and Q readings off of the screen.
Step 2 Open Panel
Open the panel using handle taking care not to touch the clear section as it can contaminate readings.
Step 3 Open Readings
Take reading in open position. This is the clean efficiency of cells.
Take care not to block solar cell to sunlight as this will invalidate the reading.
Write Down V and Q readings again.
Step 4 Close Panel
Close Debris Panel via handle once again taking care not to touch clear section as it can contaminate future readings.
Step 5 Enter Data into Software
Enter the two V and Q readings into software.
Enter Additional Data from your electricity bill to improve accuracy if desired.
Software will let you Know when to organize cleaning of panels.
Step 6 Enjoy The Savings
Relax knowing you are maximizing the solar output of your panels without overspending on cleaning costs.
When Should I Clean My Solar Cleaning Meter
You only clean your solar cleaning meter anytime you have your solar cells cleaned, this ensures the meter is experiencing the same conditions as your rooftop solar panels.
Our exclusive design ensures you can the complete multiple tests without each test affecting the next outcome.
The solar panel on the meter can be cleaned when the meter is the open position whenever a test is performed if needed.
Clean with a clean soft microfibre cloth and isopropyl alcohol.
Installation
All mounts supplied will put the meter at the optimum angle for the best results.
Meter must be out in the open and have direct access to sunlight.
Solar meter should be at least 1.8meters above ground and have no trees overhead to contaminate results. The closer the meter is installed to the solar system panel (within 10meters) the more accurate the results.
Gutter Mounted
This method ensures solar cleaning meter experiences exactly the same conditions as your rooftop Solar Panels
Fence Mounted
Most people find this method the easiest to install while still providing easy testing, as test can be performed from ground level.
Picket Mounted
The Star picket mounting is easiest to place in an open area while still providing easy access for person testing to remain at ground level..
